Message from the Dean

Welcome to the East Carolina Chapter of the American Guild of Organist.  We serve a large geographic area of Eastern North Carolina.  As a chapter, it is our desire to be of service in nurturing and encouraging the gifts and talents of each of our members.

Through opportunities of education, concerts and out-reach opportunities we seek to further our relationships with one another and those we impact.  We look to support the upcoming organists in our organization as they continue to develop their skills and begin their life’s journey.  As organists, we impact many lives with the beautiful and majestic music we present.

We hope that as you look for a place to call “home,” you will choose to become a member of the East Carolina Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.  We look forward to getting to know you and make you part of our family.

Best regards,

Sharon Veitch, Dean

Certification
AGO Certification is earned by examination, and is intended to offer organists opportunities to further their education, learn and polish skills, and advance their careers.  Certification is for those who hold academic degrees, and those who do not.  The East Carolina Chapter has many certified members, and our board advisor, Andrew Scanlon, FAGO, prepares many candidates for certification either privately or through East Carolina University’s degree programs.  Members are welcome to contact Prof. Scanlon at scanlona@ecu.edu  or by calling 252-328-1261.  We encourage you to visit the certification web page to learn which level might meet your needs. https://wp.agohq.org/certification/
