Kola Owolabi, Professor of Organ at the University of Notre Dame, has released a video in which he performs J. S. Bach, Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr, BWV 664 (the trio setting from the Leipzig Chorales) on the Paul Fritts organ in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at University of Notre Dame.
In 2002, Dr. Owolabi was awarded second prize and audience prize at the American Guild of Organists National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance.
He was a featured performer at the American Guild of Organists National Convention in Boston in June 2014, performing three recitals at Methuen Memorial Music Hall.
The performance is introduced with spoken commentary by Paul Walker, Professor Emeritus at Notre Dame. This is the 4th video in the American Bach Society’s Tiny Bach Concerts, in which they are releasing a new video each month. The 3 previous videos feature chamber works by Bach, and two excerpts from the Mass in B minor. The Bach Society would like to share this video with AGO members.
