2019 AGO Gala Housing Options

The 2019 AGO Gala on April 26 coincides with commencement weekend at the University of Pittsburgh. This means that many hotels in the immediate vicinity of Shadyside Presbyterian Church, site of the gala, are already booked or are available only at premium rates. But many rooms are still available in the greater Pittsburgh area at reasonable rates. Rooms available in the $150 price range in Monroeville, about 10 miles/20 minutes from the church. Those include national chain hotels such as Residence Inn by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Doubletree by Hilton, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn. There are also several budget options. All these options are easily searchable on Hotels.com. These hotels will be particularly convenient for persons driving to Pittsburgh from the east inasmuch as they will basically drive through Monroeville and past these hotels on their way to Shadyside Church.

Rooms are also available in West Homestead at Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, and Courtyard by Marriott. These hotels are 4.6 miles/14 minutes from the church, but the routing is less straight forward than the route from Monroeville and a bit more challenging to navigate.

Several Pittsburgh AGO Chapter members have graciously offered overnight accommodation to current and former students of John Walker. Hosts will provide a maximum of two nights’ accommodation and a light breakfast. Guests are responsible for their own meals and transportation. Accommodation is offered on a first-come-first-served basis and cannot be guaranteed. Please email Linda Everhart at Leverhart@hotmail.com to make your request for overnight accommodation. Kindly put the word ACCOMMODATION in your email subject.
