The National Council is the main governing body of the American Guild of Organists. It consists of four National Officers (President, Vice President/Councillor for Competitions and New Music, Secretary/Councillor for Communications, and Treasurer/Councillor for Finance and Development), four National Councillors (Councillor for Education, Councillor for Membership, Councillor for Conventions, and Councillor for Young Organists), and Chair of the Board of Regional Ambassadors. The Executive Director is an Officer who is a non-voting member of the National Council. The Chaplain is an honorary member of the National Council.
The National Council meets at least twice each year.
