Chapter Activities

Friday, April 12, 7:30 pm, First Presbyterian Church, Muncie, IN. Solo recital by James Kealey

First Prize and Audience Prize winner of the 2022 American Guild of Organists National Young Artist Competition in Organ Performance (NYACOP), James Kealey serves as full time Interim Director of Music/Organist at Third Presbyterian Church in Rochester, New York and holds a Master of Music degree in Organ Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music.  He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Music Arts degree at Eastman, in the studio of David Higgs. James was named one of The Diapason magazine’s “20 Under 30? in 2021.”

Community Activities

Organist Dr. Jeffrey Smith to grace Sursa Hall with French Classics and Audience-Submitted Improvisations
On Sunday, January 28 at 3 pm, Sursa Hall, please join us for the guest artist organ recital by Dr. Jeffrey Smith, Professor of Practice in organ and sacred music at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Dr. Smith will perform music by French composers Franck, Messiaen, Saint-Saëns, and Bonnet. He will also improvise a French Classic Suite on the Gregorian chant Veni Creator Spiritus, and conclude the program with an improvisation on two submitted themes from the audience.
On Monday, January 29, from 9-11 am at Sursa Hall, he will conduct a master class in organ improvisation with BSU organ students Jenny Donnelly and Kevin Hildebrand.
Both events are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
