Message from the Dean

Greetings!

It’s hard to believe that Fall is nearly here.  I love this time of year, with programs gearing up, plans made for the coming season, and, of course, a wonderful year of AGO events!

My thanks to Sub-Dean Lyndon Meyer and the Program Committee for presenting an exciting year of programs.  You will find a complete list attached to this issue of The Tracker.  Mark these events on your calendar now and plan to attend all of them.  I have made a standing reservation for each dinner meeting with Fred Elder, and you can do the same!

The Tulsa Chapter has much to be thankful for:

  1. A beautiful city filled with magnificent instruments.
  2. A Chapter full of wonderful, committed, talented members.
  3. Generous donors who enable us to do some really imaginative programming.
  4. A Chapter Executive Committee that is committed to nurturing the cause of the organ in our community.I encourage you all to attend our opening bash at the LeStourgeon’s home on September 1 at 6:30pm. Our newly elected and installed Regional Councillor, Vicki Schaeffer, will be with us and will install the officers for this new term.
  5. See you on the 1st!
  6. I am honored to serve as Dean for the next two years and I look forward to great times together.
  7. In addition, we will get to celebrate a milestone with one of our members, and have the chance to hear Dale’s Hauptwerk organ. If that isn’t enough, we always have great food and fellowship!

See you on the 1st!

Casey

Placement

Harvard Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is seeking a part-time organist and accompanist with a high proficiency in piano and organ to play for a traditional Sunday morning service and supporting rehearsals.  Availability for special performances is important and playing for weddings and funerals helpful.  Qualified persons would have a passion for faith and church life, attested music skills and competencies, and enjoy a growing ministry with a team-player spirit.  Harvard Avenue Christian Church is an energetic community of faith with a new, and renovated, facility that includes a new organ. The newly installed instrument is a 3-manual Rodgers Organ, Model  588.  Interim accompanist could start as soon as September 1, 2014.  Interested candidates should inquire further with Lead Pastor, Mark Briley.  (918) 742-5509.  mark@hacctulsa.org.

Contact Ferne Howell at fehowell@cox.net for information.

Employers and job seekers are invited to post and search listings of available positions on the Guild’s National Website.
